Atomic Talk Title: May the Requests Be With You: Playwright API Magic

In a galaxy of ever-evolving front-end and back-end codebases, test automation has grown more intricate than mastering both the light and dark sides of the Force. With modern interfaces enabling us to interact with systems via UI and API, we find opportunities to transform this complexity into an advantage, much like a Jedi turning uncertainty into strength.

Join me as we embark on a journey through Playwright’s API and network traffic capabilities, where you’ll learn to wield these powerful tools to craft test scripts that interact effortlessly with both sides of the application stack. Whether you’re blocking, modifying, or intercepting requests, you’ll leave this session prepared to handle even the trickiest scenarios.

Examples of the following:

  • Utilizing Playwright for UI automation
  • Intercepting with API/network requests within a Playwright test for assertions
  • Modifying API/network requests within a Playwright test
  • Mocking API/network requests within a Playwright test

Speaker Bio

Butch Mayhew is the Head of Quality and Reliability at Tilled, who loves finding more efficient ways to complete tasks. This played out in two major areas within his organization; test strategies that focus on deep exploratory feature testing, and creating test automation frameworks that have identified over 150 defects in his test environments. While he isn’t busy automating the next boring task, you can find him at the disc golf course during the day or recording the next episode of the FunHawg Podcast at night!
