AI development tools like GitHub Copilot/Gemini/AWS Code Whisperer have become an integral part of the modern software development workflow. But how do we use them effectively? Do these tools replace human developers, or are they more like an AI-powered coding pair? Can they truly accelerate productivity, as many claims suggest?
While these tools show great promise, they also come with limitations. For instance, they’re not always accurate and may introduce risks if used without oversight. Questions like “Is the code generated secure?” or “Does it inadvertently introduce vulnerabilities?” highlight the need for vigilance.
In this session, we’ll explore the features of these tools, how I and some of my colleagues have been using them, and the kinds of problems where they excel. We’ll demonstrate their capabilities with a practical example with Spring boot kotlin codebase and discuss their impact on development workflows and related activities.
By the end, you’ll have a clearer understanding of how to integrate AI coding assistants effectively into your work, where they add value, and where caution is needed to ensure security, code quality, productivity, and long-term sustainability.
Priti has been working with ThoughtWorks for more than decade, where currently focusing on backend development. I’m passionate about clean code, refactoring, TDD, DDD, continuous integration and deployment practices. I love all aspects of software delivery — from coming up with ideas through to putting them into production. In other words, I like to architect solutions from a holistic point of view.
I have conducted multiple training in SEA region such as TDD, DDD and recently about using these AI tools in development life cycle.
APIs are essential mechanisms in software communication, using a set of widely utilised definitions and protocols. Postman is a very popular tool that facilitates API testing, offering an intuitive graphical interface for sending requests and viewing responses. Although many QAs use Postman, they do not always explore its full potential. We will uncover the secrets of Postman for test automation, starting from basic API concepts to more advanced functionalities. We will learn to create collections, use variables and random data, execute automated test runs, and generate API documentation. Additionally, we will discover how we can use AI in Postman and how Newman contributes to automated test execution.

Jonathas Santos has been working as a QA since 2018. He began his career as a graduate in Business Administration and made the transition to IT in 2011, starting as a Technical Document Analyst at MV Systems. In this role, he was responsible for writing user guides for customers and preparing release notes for new software versions. He then pursued postgraduate studies in Software Quality Engineering. His experience in business has enabled him to develop key skills in planning and executing tests. At companies like Accenture, he honed his skills in test automation, working with API testing using REST-Assured and Postman. Currently, at Ritain.io, he is responsible for developing and conducting automated tests with Robot Framework. For Jonathas, quality is not solely a QA responsibility but a team-wide commitment, where everyone must be passionate about quality and excellence in each release.
