Creating and maintaining automated tests for application user interfaces usually involves a significant amount of scripting, even when the initial code is generated by AI, the tests still live in a JavaScript or Python ecosystem, and sustainably managing the entire test project generally requires considerable programming expertise.
As an alternative to script-based approaches using Playwright or Cypress, this presentation introduces QF-Test, a more visual approach: simply launch your application with the tool, record the interactions and validations of the test case, and then replay the test interactively or as part of an automated integration test.
An auto-adjusting component recognition mechanism makes it easy to transfer tests from one platform to another (for example, creating tests for a legacy Windows application and using them as a reference for a new web-based version).
In addition, the integrated AI capabilities make it easier to handle non-deterministic application behavior, generate test data, or derive test cases from ticket descriptions. It is even possible to use the testing tool as an “MCP Server Framework” to provide application-based workflows to agentic systems without requiring programming.
• Automated UI testing through record and playback
• UI testing beyond web applications
• Control any testable application via MCP
Dr. Pascal Bihler gained practical and theoretical experience in software development in Germany, France, and the United States, focusing on Agile Software Development, User-Centered Software Design, and Software Testing at the University of Bonn. He worked as an independent consultant in Software User Experience and developed interactive, cooperative, and full-stack mobile games. For more than 10 years, he has been working at QFS and mgm technology partners on the development of the UI testing tool QF-Test, where integrating AI into testing is one of the main focus areas.
Throughout our professional careers, we develop essential technical skills to ensure software quality. However, one of the most underestimated, and at the same time most important, skills is the way we communicate. In this session, we will explore assertive communication techniques applied to everyday work, with a focus on clarity and objectivity.
During the talk, simple and structured approaches will be presented to help reduce communication noise, avoid misunderstandings, and make the QA role more effective within the product development lifecycle.
• The role of assertive communication
• The difference between communication and effective communication
• How to reduce noise and misunderstandings
• Practical examples of ineffective communication vs. assertive communication in a QA professional’s daily routine
Francyelle has been working as a QA Engineer at Natixis for the past four years, since moving from Brazil to Portugal. Before that, she had already been working in software development since 2011, totalizing 15 years of experience, with 10 of those years focused on roles related to Quality Assurance. Throughout her career, she has also worked with major institutions such as HSBC Bank, Google Partners, Santander, Lazard Asset Management, and HarbourVest Funds (USA). She believes that quality goes far beyond what reaches the customer. For her, quality exists in every stage of the process, long before the final delivery happens.
With a career dedicated to Quality Assurance since 2008, Hugo Manaia has built extensive expertise across industry leaders such as PT Inovação, Critical Software, Mindera, and Creativesystems. Throughout his journey in Telecommunications, Banking, Betting, and Retail, he has developed a versatile profile with a strong focus on API testing and system analysis, before diving into the complex challenges of the crypto ecosystem. Currently a Senior Quality Assurance Analyst at Uphold, he focuses on ensuring the resilience of systems where security and data integrity are critical.
Artificial intelligence is increasingly present in the world of software testing automating tasks, generating tests, and accelerating processes. But how far can it really go? In this talk, we will explore the benefits and risks of using AI in the QA field, discussing why socio-emotional and distinctly human skills remain essential, even in an increasingly automated landscape. A practical and timely reflection on our role in the future of quality.
• How AI is transforming software testing
• Tools and real-world examples of AI-driven automation
• The risks and limitations of relying solely on artificial intelligence
• The importance of socio-emotional skills in QA
• Why empathy, creativity, and critical thinking remain irreplaceable
• The future of QA professionals: technology with consciousness
• Practical reflections on collaboration between humans and AI
With a background in engineering and 12 years in the testing field, Pedro has worked in technology for 27 years across various sectors including television, finance, e-commerce, betting, and currently in1 insurance. Enthusiastic about the financial world, cooking, and outdoor activities — when he’s unreachable, he’s either cycling or at sea.
