What if your IDE could understand your automation framework’s page object structure, generate test cases from user stories, scaffold data-driven scenarios, and enforce your team’s coding standards — all through natural language? Custom GitHub Copilot Agents make this possible today.
In this hands-on working session, we’ll go beyond generic AI code completion and build a purpose-built Copilot Agent tailored to a web automation framework. Whether you use Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or any other tool, the principles are the same. You’ll learn how to encode your team’s testing conventions, locator strategies, assertion patterns, and project structure directly into an agent that acts as a domain-expert pair programmer.
What you’ll walk away with:
A working custom .agent.md file wired into your VS Code workspace
Techniques to define framework-specific rules: POM patterns, naming conventions, test data management, and reporting standards
Patterns for integrating helper scripts and external tools as agent capabilities
Best practices for writing agent instructions that keep generated code consistent, maintainable, and aligned to your team’s standards
Who is this for?
QE engineers, SDETs, and automation architects who want to supercharge their existing web automation frameworks with AI – without changing their tech stack or rewriting their codebase.
Prerequisites: VS Code with GitHub Copilot, a web automation project (any language/framework), and curiosity.
Attendees will leave with a practical QA leader’s model for evaluating AI answers beyond pass/fail, identifying where AI systems really fail, and building better release confidence for AI-powered products.
Ragunath Chilkuru is a seasoned Quality Engineering leader with 15+ years of experience driving large-scale automation and AI-driven quality transformation across organisations such as Inspire Brands, Medtronic, Pegasystems, Software AG, and Dell Technologies. He specialises in web, mobile, and API test automation using Selenium, Playwright, and Appium, combined with cloud-native CI/CD practices. Passionate about leveraging AI for intelligent test generation, RCA, and quality insights, he focuses on improving release velocity, enabling high-impact, scalable quality engineering practices.

I’m Mahathee. I work as a Project Lead Quality with Persistent Systems in Hyderabad, India. Apart from actively testing products I love to share my knowledge by attending conferences and meetups, networking with people, learning from them, reflecting on my learnings and applying them at work. I have been an active member of various testing communities like The Test Tribe, Testchat, Agile Testing Alliance, Ministry of Testing, Synapse QA etc. I also like mentoring junior testers. I’m an active person and always keep myself abreast with the latest happenings in the industry. Some topics close to my heart are accessibility, usability and the aspect of testability. In my spare time, I volunteer with the test tribe and conduct their meetups in my city. I encourage fellow testers to participate in these events and share their knowledge as they have helped me grow immensely as a tester.
