Why should you attend a Hackathon ?

Being a professional and passionate exploratory tester for a decade, I recommend testers to be part of testing communities. The great thing about the Testing hackathons are not limited to only functional bugs, but they can be UI / UX, Security, Performance and more. You are only limited by your imagination. I’ve been part of Testing Hackathons before and loved them totally. I am not kidding, you can taste it by yourself by being part of it. Go Testers, Go!

Testing is fun – especially the bug hunting part. Imagine the rush of quickly learning an app, designing the perfect quick test to get you the bug or the best test to find you the critical bug. Now, also imagine the best of the best testers testing and competing with you for a prize. Full-on entertainment for testers. The organizers do a great job in maintaining the enthu of the crowd. And did I mention about the prizes? You need to experience it. Waiting for the next one 🙂

I had been to only one Testing Hackathon before but trust me, it has only been the best for me.I had a really good time. It was thoroughly engaging. It will be a crazy rush to get maximum bugs out before time stops you. Hackathons are very much a social event. So don’t waste any opportunity to talk to somebody. I gained in a lot of practical knowledge. When you work with others, you’re going to pick up so many new tips and tricks. These are all skills which will make you a better tester. Happy testing. Cheers.

Hackathon/Testathons enables you to network with similar minds and it gives you an exposure to various testing methods people use during the event. These Hackathons really challenge your mind to come up with results in a short span of time. In the last Hackathon I have learnt how exploratory testing is different from ad-hoc testing. It is a fun way to learn, explore and network and I would urge you to participate and experience it yourself. Happy Testing !
