Session #1:
ChatGPT: An opportunity or concern for human testers and automation engineers? - An early explorer's perspective!

Only a few months have passed since ChatGPT, and now GPT-4 was announced and is around the corner and exciting for most of us. Isn’t it? I assume that some of you must have explored it by now.
Recalling the old days when the emergence of test automation, even recording and playback, once caused worries (not unrealistic) in some software testers. Of course, that worry was not unrealistic! The concerns again manifested when AI/ML evolved to greater efficiency and speed, and now it seems to be ChatGPT’s turn to cause troubles. Isn’t it? For some, it may not be, and for some, it may be.

But, thinking a little deeper…

  • Is that the case?
  • What do we know, and how about ChatGPT and GPT-4, that should concern software testers and why?
  • How many of us are in the fear/concern mindset, and what might be causing that?
  • But, on the other hand, how many of us are taking this as an opportunity to leverage ChatGPT?

Taking some simple use cases to test into account, Sandeep will be expressing his views on these questions in this session.

Key Takeaways:

After this session, you should feel equipped with the knowledge to explore and use ChatGPT capabilities in your favor by knowing the following.

  • What is ChatGPT, and what is it not?
  • What shallow questions should testers stop asking ChatGPT for their benefit?
  • What caused and still is causing that shallowness, and how to improve ourselves to become knowledgeable testers?
  • How to utilize ChatGPT to solve better practical testing problems?
